One of the most beautiful sections of the Drau Cycle Path takes you over 60 kilometers through the Klopeiner See – South Carinthia region. There are numerous options for families and leisure cyclists on this section. The cycle path runs along the banks of the river and offers a pleasant and relatively flat route that is suitable for families as well as experienced cyclists.
The Drau Cycle Path is a fantastic way to experience nature, get to know the region’s culture and be active at the same time. Southern Carinthia offers attractive terrain for road cyclists. Thanks to the mild climate on the southern side of the Alps, extended tours are possible from as early as March and the season usually lasts until November.
There are countless road bike tours in southern Carinthia that lead through challenging as well as flat terrain, through beautiful natural landscapes and along low-traffic routes. For road cyclists, southern Carinthia has routes of all levels on a wide variety of terrain. You can cycle for several hours relatively flat along the beautiful lakes as well as an Alpine tour over the Karawanken to Slovenia or Italy.
MTB Flow Trail on Steinerberg
Trail for families
The Flow Trail on the Steinerberg is just 1.0 kilometer from our house. The 1.3 km long trail is a family cycle trail that can be used free of charge.
Use of the MTB Flow Trail:
From May 1 to August 31 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
From September 1 to October 31 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The mine biking adventure in South Carinthia is de facto available for the whole family and is a unique adventure that allows mountain bike enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the fascinating underworld. The Petzen, a former lead and zinc mine, provides a spectacular backdrop for this exciting activity. Here cyclists have the opportunity to ride along a network of old mine tunnels. These tunnels have been adapted into special mountain bike routes that lead through underground tunnels, caves and galleries. So put on your helmet, switch on your miner’s lamp and then you’re ready for this breathtaking tour with experienced guides.

Bikepark Petzen
The MTB ZONE Bikepark Petzen offers unforgettable biking experiences of all levels of difficulty on several different trails. The cable car takes you and your bike to the start of the trail.
Experience the sensation of speed on the 11 km long Flow Country Trail without pedaling much. More experienced mountain bikers demonstrate their riding skills on the “Thriller Trail” and the EWS Trail, which – built especially for the Enduro World Series – also challenges real MTB champions.
In additional to these challenging trails, there are also family-friendly routes and areas in the bike park that are suitable for younger cyclists and beginners. This makes the park a fun place for the whole family.
